Quite a while ago I simply inquired about a loan with Prosper out of curiosity [interest rates] combined with the fact that they claim it does not affect credit score.

Apparently by doing this, I inadvertently authorized Prosper to send me unauthorized emails including periodic checks to my credit score (soft inquiries). As my credit score ebbs and flows (as I recently had a medical expense I put on credit), my FICO/Experian score dropped just below 680 and I suddenly realize months later, that they are still keeping tabs on me which I find very ***

So I get an email from them that my credit score is now too low to take loans from them (as if I ever want a loan from them).

Now, I wouldn't take issue with this

---IF---

A. They allowed me to remove myself from the email list

B. I were allowed to send them an email requesting help

---HOWEVER---

1. They do not have an option to unsubscribe and replies to the email address are sent to a box that is not monitored.

2. Visiting their website, there is no way to request help from them to remove my contact information and unsolicited emails.

---They require that you log in---

But if I use the email address that they are currently spamming, they say I have no such account under the very email address they are spamming.

Thus they are requiring me to sign up for an account with them in order to send them an email to ask them to stop spamming me.

This is certainly going to lead to me writing a very detailed and thorough formal complain to both federal and state-level consumer protection agencies and the attorney general, etc.

It's disgusting that a supposedly tech-savvy company is so wantonly ignorant of simple account and email management principles. Nearly any time I don't remember or desire to receive emails from a reputable company, there is always a way to either unsubscribe automatically or to send an email requesting opt out.

Prosper provides neither option (or, alternatively, they hide it). I should not have to sign up for an account or call them to get them to stop spamming my email address.

Reason of review: Violation of consumer protection.

Preferred solution: Follow best-practice industry standards.

Prosper Cons: Customer service.

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri

Inquiry about a prosper loan. Did not like their interest rate as credit cards were lower.

I turned them down. Now I'm getting emails from them telling me I don't qualify for the original amount that I never asked for. Their latest email states my credit score is in the 600s when I know it is in the mid 700s.

I'm going to report them to my state attorney general, with a call and letter from my attorney. AWFUL COMPANY
